ABOUT THE EVENT /
The conference goal is to build and celebrate sustainable networks between youth, students, pre- and in-service teachers, teacher educators and administrators, Hip-Hop teaching and performing artists, civic leaders, activists, and social entrepreneurs. We are compiling resources, channeling voices, celebrating art and music, and cultivating passionate people to promote positive change in ourselves and in our communities in the interest of building a global citizenry.
SJSU undergraduate students are positioned as central organizers for the conference which includes workshops, networking, performances, a public debate, a community dialogue and an after party.
We will have a panel of judges for the public debate on education, hosted by high school scholars and leaders from the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League. The role of the panel is to dialogue with our young scholars and leaders after their debate about their ideas for supporting student access to higher education, gainful and rewarding employment, civic life, as well as ways to navigate life with justified confidence in their linguistic and cultural assets and their visions for informing and leading as global citizens dedicated to a socially just, and culturally and environmentally sustainable future.
